Question: i need advice about Anxiety.?

( Back )

Answer #1:

I'm sorry that sounds really hard! Actually I used to get that way with my Mom, like if she took a really long time at the grocery store and I had expected her back, I would ride my bike up there to make sure nothing happened to her. I eventually outgrew that to an extent, but Moms are just so important to us that they are very easy to get mixed-up in anxiety attacks.

Your Dad doesn't seem to get it at all, so you might as well not waste the energy on trying to explain that to him. You can rely on your Mom, and that is a wonderful gift that not many others have.

While you are on vacation, you could try this. Take a notebook, and when you start thinking about your Mom, write her a letter in the notebook. So, for instance, if you go somewhere that reminds you of her, write her a letter about it and maybe even doodle in the notebook so you remember what it looked like. Yeah, you could start to cry, but it isn't as big of a deal as you would think. Just tell people you just get homesick really easily, even though you are happy to be with them and are having a good time.

Also realize that panic attacks are not as bad as they seem. You will not die, as much as you may feel like you will. If you begin to have an attack, focus, and I mean really focus, on controlling your breathing. Ignore everything around you and just focus on getting your breathing at a normal rate.

Answer #2:

First of all, if you're having anxiety attacks, it's important that you get help, whether it's from a friend, relative or a professional. I don't know if this will work with you, but my teacher would tell me to recite the whole alphabet backwards.

It isn't weird that you miss your mom, a lot of people miss their parents after a short period of time, although I can't say I relate, because I never miss my parents when they're gone, I'm sure it's really a pain.

I hope you work it out!
